Breaking the SEAL
The Breaking the SEAL Programme is an NUIG initiative led by Dr Paul Flynn and Dr Barry Houlihan.
Programme Co-ordinators are Luke O'Donnell and Joseph Nyirenda.
The programme supports senior cycle history students as they complete their mandatory Research Study Report by connecting them with the James Hardiman Library archives at NUIG. During a campus visits students take a tour of the archives and engage first-hand with documents and sources there as bonafide researchers.
Participating students engage in a series of workshops targeted at developing critical 21st Century Skills:

- Critical analysis
- Narrative expression
- Technological proficiency
- Attend a presentation ceremony (usually April/May)
Students who complete the above will have their research synopsis for their research published in the Journal of Second Level Research.
